My mission is to make a difference in someone's life. I value equality, empowerment and health and my vision is to help women manage their pain so that they don't feel like they need to use medication, experience mental anguish or use other means to cope. I will promote community health and wellness by providing accessible resources and education especially for members of underserved communities that may not have an advocate or access to health education.
Physical Therapy Services
At Black Star Physical Therapy and Wellness LLC, I offer exclusive concierge physical therapy services by appointment only, providing personalized, one-on-one care tailored to your unique needs. Physical therapy is a healthcare service designed to restore and enhance movement, reduce pain, and improve the overall quality of life through specialized exercises, manual therapy, and patient education. Whether you're recovering from an injury, managing chronic pain, or aiming to optimize physical performance, my approach ensures you receive the highest level of attention and support.
I specialize in treating a variety of conditions, including:
My goal is to help you move better, feel stronger, and live a pain-free life. Through comprehensive assessment and customized treatment plans, we will work together to improve your mobility, reduce discomfort, and prevent future injuries.
In addition to physical therapy services, I now offer 1-on-1 Assisted Stretch Sessions for individuals looking to enhance flexibility, reduce tension, and maintain mobility. Whether you spend long hours at a desk, work out regularly without prioritizing stretching, or are training for an athletic event, these sessions can help you stay limber and avoid potential injuries. Unlike typical stretching services, these sessions are conducted by a licensed physical therapist, ensuring expert guidance and personalized attention.
As a licensed physical therapist and certified fitness instructor, I bring a unique and expert approach to both physical therapy and fitness coaching. Physical therapists are healthcare providers with specialized knowledge in movement analysis, body mechanics, and how the body functions in everyday life. We don’t just treat injuries—we’re trained to understand how your body moves, where weaknesses or imbalances may lie, and how to optimize your strength and mobility for the long term. This makes us uniquely qualified to guide you through safe, effective exercise programs that not only help you reach your fitness goals but also prevent future injuries.
Fitness Coaching with a Holistic Approach
At Black Star PT Wellness, I offer online fitness coaching programs designed specifically for women over 30, focusing on strength training, joint health, and injury prevention. Whether you’re new to strength training or looking for a structured plan to support your fitness journey, I provide a safe and sustainable path toward achieving your goals. As a physical therapist, I can tailor workouts to address specific pain points or movement limitations, ensuring that you can exercise without fear of aggravating old injuries.
Transitional Fitness Program: From Recovery to Strength
My Transitional Fitness Program is designed for patients finishing physical therapy who want to continue building strength while addressing any lingering pain or movement restrictions. This program seamlessly transitions you from injury recovery to full physical capability, empowering you to maintain progress, prevent future injuries, and continue improving your strength and mobility.
By choosing a physical therapist as your fitness coach, you’re investing in a comprehensive, holistic approach to your health—one that prioritizes your long-term well-being and ensures you can reach your fitness goals safely.
Physical Therapy is designed for individuals experiencing acute or chronic injury or pain. It involves personalized treatment to address specific conditions such as back or neck pain, joint pain, post-surgical recovery, or other physical ailments. Under Michigan’s direct access laws, you can receive physical therapy services without a prescription for up to 21 days, allowing you to begin your care quickly. After this period, a prescription from your physician is required to continue treatment.
Fitness Coaching, on the other hand, is for clients who may not have a current injury but still require expert guidance to maintain or improve their health. This service is ideal for individuals who have had past injuries, live with chronic pain, or experience weakness. Unlike physical therapy, fitness coaching focuses on developing strength, mobility, and overall health through tailored exercise programs, body mechanics education, and nutrition guidance.
While physical therapy is essential for recovering from injury or managing pain, fitness coaching is a proactive approach to building strength, preventing future injuries, and enhancing your well-being through the principles of lifestyle medicine. My fitness programs help you learn how to move safely, prioritize your health, and strengthen your body and mind.
Lifestyle medicine is a medical specialty that uses therapeutic lifestyle interventions as a primary modality to treat chronic conditions including, but not limited to, cardiovascular diseases, type 2 diabetes, and obesity. Applying the six pillars of lifestyle medicine—a whole-food, plant-predominant eating pattern, physical activity, restorative sleep, stress management, avoidance of risky substances and positive social connections—also provides effective prevention for these conditions.
Currently all services are cash-based however for physical therapy services, a superbill will be furnished which can be turned into your insurance company for reimbursement. It is the clients responsibility to check with their insurance company for reimbursement.
